PARISH SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM 2024 – INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Dear Parents,

The Parish of St Mary and St Joseph Maroubra Bay-Beach will be celebrating the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion this year.  Current information is listed below.   However, please refer to our Parish Website at www.smsj.org.au for any updates or changes which may become necessary.

TERM 1:  FIRST RECONCILIATION (YEAR 3 +)

This Sacrament is for children who are in Year 3 and above preparing for First Holy Communion and have been baptised in the Catholic Church.

For the Parish children there will be a compulsory summary and preparation lesson on Saturday 6 April 2024 starting at 4.30pm followed by 5.30pm Mass.  Then on Saturday 4 May, 4.30pm the Parish children will be making their First Reconciliation followed by 5.30pm Mass.

The SMSJ School children will be receiving their First Reconciliation on Friday 20 September 2024 at their First Holy Communion Retreat.  The school will provide further details.

The Enrolment Mass and Information session will be held on Sunday 17 March commencing with Mass at 5.30pm.

TERM 2:  CONFIRMATION (Year 6+) – THURSDAY 6 JUNE, 6.30pm Mass

This Sacrament is for children who are in Year 6 and above who have been baptised in the Catholic Church and have received the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

The Enrolment Mass and Information Session will be held on Sunday 5 May, commencing with 5.30pm Mass.

For the Parish children a compulsory summary lesson will be held on Saturday 1 June, 3.00pm followed by Reconciliation at 4.30pm and Mass at 5.30pm.

For the SMSJ School children there will be a Confirmation Retreat on Friday 31 May 2024.  The school will   provide further details.

TERM 3:  FIRST HOLY COMMUNION (Year 3+) – SUNDAY 22 SEPTEMBER, 11am Mass

This Sacrament is for children who are in Year 3 and above and have been baptised in the Catholic Church and have made their First Reconciliation.

The Enrolment Mass and Information Session will be held on Sunday 30 June 2024.  The session will commence with 5.30pm Mass.

For the Parish children a compulsory summary lesson will be held on Saturday 14 September, 3.00pm followed by Reconciliation at 4.30pm and Mass at 5.30pm.

The SMSJ School children will be attending a First Holy Communion Retreat on Friday 20 September 2024.  The school will provide further details.

As part of the preparation for all Sacraments above, parents are encouraged to bring their children to one of our Parish Masses on each of the 4 weekends preceding the Sacrament your child is receiving.  This will help the children enormously with the structure, rituals and understanding of our Catholic Mass as they develop their faith.
